MAL - service design project
‘Mal’ (in Norwegian - “paint” or “template”) is a service for everyone, which creates a room in your everyday life for creativity and calmness through simple and inspiring painting tasks. All people are born creative. Children unfold themselves very naturally when it comes to be creative, while among adults it is more common to resort to logic and reason. When adults comes in contact with their spontaneous and creative side, it is often perceived as something unfamiliar and challenging, yet something good. Through the positive effects of painting, we want to convey how easy and fulfilling it can be to get in touch with your creative side through this particular medium with our painting box and app.
The painting box is designed to be transformed in a workspace with an easel and a smart arrangement of the painting devices. The workspace is comfortable to use and helps users to keep it clean and tidy. The app contains different painting exercises intended to be inspiring, motivating and to provide feedback.
My contribution to the project consisted in research, concept development, business strategy development, touch points defining, visual identity development, brand identity, product development for the painting box (sketching, prototyping, functional model testing, 1:1 prototype building), film making.
